Hi Lynne, thank you for your wonderful comment! We at Solenco strive to deliver the best service and products at all times.
The Meaco 20L Low Energy Dehumidifier is recommended for all homes near coastal areas. Extract lots of water from the air. Low noise level.

The air smells sweet! I can definitely tell the difference and not suffering as much from post-nasal drip.

   Hi Solenco

Thanks for the email enquiry regarding my recent purchase of my Meaco 60L dehumidifier.

So far it is working just perfectly and I am very pleased with the product. It is easy to use and was very easy to get started. It arrived on time and was not damaged at all during transit.

Kind Regards

The Solenco Rechargeable Mini Cupboard Dehumidifier is a nifty product. I think it's working. Very easy to replenish crystals with short charge. Unobtrusive in cupboards.

My mother has a severe case of COPD and asthma. She can feel a real difference since using this Solenco CF8500 Air Purifier. Thank you.

I bought this to clean the air for my sister who has been suffering for many years. She has used may types of medications and has been to see many specialists for her chronic sinus. Once we started the machine an immediate difference in air quality was noticed and she is now able to breathe well! Within two days we could see a thick build up of dust and pet dander on the filter cover. It does, however, make the air cool like an air conditioner which is not the best for winter as there is no setting for temperature, but it is bearable. It is very quiet on setting one which we use when we sleep.setting three is noisy but effective in removing smells of cooking or car fumes from outside.
This is one of the best products I have bought at TAKEALOT.

Good day Tracy. Thank you for your feedback on the Solenco CF8500 Air Purifier. We are pleased to hear that the unit is making it easier for your sister to breathe!
Just to let you know that I purchased the 12L Meaco Platinum Dehumidifier from Hirsch last week.....the best decision in a long time; which certainly addresses our domestic mould/mildew problems. This unit has proved invaluable following the recent torrential rainstorms in Durban. I'd highly recommend it to friends and family. We're considering purchasing the bigger unit to function in another area of our house. Renewed thanks for your recommendation and superior advice on your products.

Thank you so much for such an awesome product. We have used the Solenco Mini Rechargeable Cupboards Dehumidifier in the garage where we store all our camping equipment and there has been no mildew on any of our stuff. We had some heavy rains last night and for once we are not worried about our camping stuff. I have recommended the product to all my camping buddies.

I have 3 other dehumidifiers in my house in Margate. About 500m from the beach. initially I was disappointed when I could not get stock of the same brand as the others for my daughters newly renovated open-plan bedroom/bathroom. Since I received the Maeco, I have been very impressed.
Not only is it aesthetically more pleasing but also quieter . I bought a small unit for this purpose, but it works very effectively..
The only criticism maybe is that the tank fills quite fast and need to be emptied daily. Highly recommended.

Hi Charles! Thank you for your comment. The Meaco 10L Small Home Dehumidifier with its 2-litre tank capacity is ideal for flats and small three-bedroom homes. If the dehumidifier runs flat-out all day and the humidity is high, then the tank would need to be emptied more often. That is why there is a continuous drainage option. Please get in touch with us should you need more information!
The dehumidifier works wonderfully in our classroom. Thank you so much! Highly recommended

Hi Greg! I'm so pleased to hear that the Meaco DD8L Standard is working wonders in your classroom - especially since you mentioned that the learners were struggling to concentrate with the mouldy smell. The anti-bacterial silver nano filter and ioniser will most certainly help keep the air cleaner thereby providing a healthy learning environment.
I have never used products in my life that have impressed me as much as the Solenco products, I bought HEPA FILTER - 12L MEACO LOW ENERGY DEHUMIDIFIER and the AIRWAX. I have also never experienced the level of customer service like this before as well. I have called Simon on several occasions and even after hours (I'm even sorry to admit that) and he has been so polite and helpful, he really knows his products so well. I feel being able to talk to someone when I need to ask a question is so important, he also explained how the machine works and confirmed that I can call him anytime I need too. Hows tat for customer service. The office staff and sales rep Lizelle Verrall and Pricilla Bouwer have also been incredible, I have been unbelievably impressed. I have had a sinus problem for at least 7 years and these 2 machines have changed my life.

Hi Bonny! Thank you for your wonderful comment! The Airvax Air Purifier is specifically designed to capture and destroy pollutants and allergens as small as o.1 microns! This is why you are feeling a major improvement with your sinus problem. This is further complemented by your purchase of a Meaco 12L Low-Energy Dehumidifier with the optional HEPA filter. We are happy to be of service!
My experience with Solenco has been wonderful, speedy assistance & delivery. I am loving my new MeacoMist Deluxe 5 in 1 humidifier. The only thing i would prefer to work slightly better is the scent dispenser as the scent is not pushed into the room as well as i was hoping. But this does not take away for how amazing this product is.

Good day Angelique! Thank you for your positive feedback. We always strive to uphold customer service excellence. We are pleased that you are happy with your purchase of the MeacoMist Deluxe.
We received the product and started using two weeks ago. Bearing in mind that the very humid months on the KZN South Coast are yet to come, we have been amazed at the volume of water our Meaco 12L low energy dehumidifier has been extracting. The windows are dry in the mornings. Today I also cleaned the special filter for the first time - couldn't believe how much dirt it removed from the air. I believe that the overall result is why I have been sleeping well, without a blocked nose. Well worth the price.

Thank you for your feedback Gerrie! We are very pleased to hear that the 12L Low-Energy Dehumidifier is doing such a great job. The fact that you have opted to buy the optional HEPA filter for the unit is also contributing to your improved night's rest as the whole purpose of a HEPA filter is to capture the impurities found in the air. In short, HEPA stands for high-efficiency particulate air and works by forcing the air through a fine mesh that traps harmful particles such as pollen, pet dander, dust mites and tobacco smoke.
This is my 2nd dehumidifier - love the product and the service.
I have recently shipped my old machine down to the Southern Cape, where we have a holiday / rental property. I am 30 km's from the ocean, so the humidity is much higher, and the unit does wonders with my laundry!
The main house is also 165 years old, and we need extra help when we paint & renovate to help the building dry out properly.

I simply can't function without it!

Hi Erika! We are so glad to hear that you are finding so much value in your DD8L Standard Dehumidifier especially with the renovation of the 165-year-old property! Old houses usually have ongoing problems with dampness due to structural breakdown such as a leaking roof, poor cavity wall ventilation and rising damp. New houses or houses undergoing renovation, however, often have higher indoor humidity levels during the first few years as the concrete, plaster, paint and wood finishes dry out. One of the best ways to control humidity levels is with a dehumidifier. A dehumidifier reduces humidity levels, making your home less hospitable to allergens such as mould, mildew and dust mites. They further help reduce odours that accompany mould and mildew in your home by getting rid of that musty smell.
The product works exactly as expected. The overall build quality is good, and the controls are easy to operate.

I am glad to say, the Mini Dehumidifiers worked even better than expected. Living near coastal areas and making biltong is always an concern and one can get mold/mildew when you expect it least. With the Mini Dehumidifiers there was no mold/mildew present at all. Resulting in the best tasting batch of Biltong I have ever made. The Mini Dehumidifiers is cost effective and easy to use, and the colour indicator is so simple to follow. Thank you to everyone at Solenco South Africa for this amazing little product. I highly recommend it!

All I can say is 'Thank you Solenco'! I live right across from the Muizenberg sea, and though the sea atmosphere makes it very difficult to not have mold, it is most comforting to know that I am now able to grow my collection of Solenco dehumidifying products.

I've recently tried the portable Solenco Mini Cupboard Dehumidifier, and for the first time am able to see the positive effects that I would expect from a product of this nature.

This small purchase has been a worthwhile investment for me and my family.

Hi, bought the Solenco Rechargeable Mini Cupboard Dehumidifier to keep my 3D printer filament dry. It does a perfect job and fits in the storage container. I think the description is a bit misleading and it is basically packaged Silica Gel with a heater element to dry it when saturated. Very simple and clever indeed.

Thank you for your feedback Brian. We are pleased to hear that the Solenco Rechargeable Mini Cupboard Dehumidifier is getting the job done by keeping your 3D printer filament dry. Your observation of it being Silica Gel with a heater element is accurate. This small dehumidifying unit was originally designed to extract excess moisture from small spaces such as cupboards, but since then thousands of other uses has been found for this clever, yet simple, little unit.
So far the product is working great , service and delivery was fast and hassle free. Thanks for your good service.

We are pleased to hear that you are happy with the purchase of your Solenco Rechargeable Mini Cupboard Dehumidifier Elaine. Not only does this small dehumidifier have thousands of uses in the home, on a boat or in a caravan, but it is also very effective to use in toolboxes to prevent tools from rusting!
We've been using the AirVax Air Purifier for about a month now for my fiance's cat allergies. I can honestly say that it does make a big difference. Although the red scratchy eyes and sneezing has not gone away completely, I would definitely recommend this product as it has made a big big difference.

My only small complaint is that the remote that was supplied with this unit does not seem to function all that well but at least we can still adjust the settings on the unit itself.

All in all I would give this product an 8/10!!!

Glad to hear the Airvax is helping with your fiance's allergies, albeit not totally. Please remember that with air purifiers it is important to keep running them - the Airvax only consumes 4W so it wont be a bank breaker. The reason for this is that you want to want to pass air through the units continuously, the more this happens the cleaner the air gets. If the unit is switched off then the "pollution" - or cats hair in your fiance's situation - will have the opportunity to return to the room.
I will get someone to call you about the remote - this doesn't sound good so we need to sort it!
An excellent product which actually works. Wonderful to be able to adjust the required room humidity instead of the unit running full blast all night creating a cold wet environment. Well worth the money.

Bought a Solenco Dr USB Ioniser Air Purifier and I must say it is a very effective device. I had to buy 2 for my kids room as it is more than 20 sqm and I can smell and sense the difference in their room. I had to purchase 2 USB power plugs to get it to work thought as the device is only powered by USB. I think Solenco should make a bigger device that can connect directly to the 220V power. My kids no longer suffer from tight chests etc. It is so effective that I have bought another one for my bedroom.

Hi Michael

Thanks very much for the feedback. We originally brought the Dr USB's in as a request from customers who wanted a small air purifier to be used in the car or at their desk at work. So these will cover an area of 10M2. We do of course have larger units that can be used in rooms - such as the AIrvax Air Purifier which will be able to clean the air in a 25M2 room. We are going to bring in very soon two other models that will be able to cover 30M2 and 50M2 rooms sizes. We will keep in touch with you about that.
The Dr USB Ionizer Air Purifiers are little charms and is most definitely helpful. The light is rather bright at night though - especially used on your bed-side table.

We’ve had the Meaco Deluxe Humidifier now for about 2 months and overall we're very pleased with the unit.
It looks cool and works really well the operating system is easy to understand and use.
If you are looking as to how to improve the unit I find filling it with water a bit difficult, it would be much easier to fill it from the top rather than the bottom.
Also once you unplug the unit your settings are lost, it would be nice if you could save them.
Another nice feature would be to add the time to the display.
Otherwise I’d give the unit 8 out of 10

Thanks for the feedback Geoff - we have passed on your suggestions to the factory. I think that the idea of a "auto restart" on the unit is a great idea. This happens with the dehumidifiers that we offer so no reason for it not to happen with humidifiers as well.
The product was very good i liked the turbo mode which allows me to quickly hydrate any room lovely product for those dry days.

Thanks for the feedback Niki. The great thing about humidifiers is that they counter the effects of heaters (which dry the air) which makes Winter living more bearable - and Winter is on the doorstep right now!!

You might be also interested to hear that many women have humidifiers as part of their beauty regimen to keep skin soft and hydrated. We will doing some articles on our blogs and Faceboook pages about this as we come into Winter. Keep and eye out!
My little guy (2 years old) has had 5 bouts of tonsillitis in the past 6 months due to the dryness in johannesburg even with 2 of the el cheapo humidifiers from clicks in his room. We decided to buy the Meaco Deluxe humidifier and for the past 3 months he hasn't had any problems. This is in a different league to the humidifiers you normally find on the market and actually regulates the humidity on the room and has great water storage capacity.
Delivery and service from Takealot and Solenco has been awesome. Only one question is how often do i need to change the filter?

Good day Ed - great to hear that your little tyke is feeling the benefits of the Deluxe - and i am sure your wallet is also feeling the benefits?!!

With regards to the change of the filter, I would assume that you are talking of the water filter to combat hard water? If you have hard water you will see a build up of lime and other elements on the filter. It will become obvious that the filter has become blocked and needs to be changed. If your water isnt hard (as in many cities) then there is nothing to worry about. Hope that helps, but if you need any more information, please contact us at info@solencosa.co.za

We bought the Meaco Deluxe Ultrasonic Humidifier via Takealot. Unfortunately, not even a month later, the machine stopped working. We still do not know what the problem was, as one night it was working fine, then it started switching itself off, without being set to do so and the tank still full. After a few unpredictable days, it wouldn't even switch on. We followed all the installation requirements to the tee, so couldn't pin point the origin of the problem. Thankfully, Takealot arranged to replace the unit and the new unit has been running fine so far. We find it to be a wonderful product, effective and good looking, we are just hoping this time it will last longer than a month. Holding Thumbs!

Hi Evette, thanks for the feedback and sorry to hear that you had a hassle with the first unit you bought. We shall investigate to find out exactly why it had a problem and will report back to the factory if there is anything onerous. Please dont hesitate to contact us on 086 138 8878 or email us at info@solencosa.co.za. Sometimes talking to one of our technical guys over the phone can resolve issues really quickly, rather than having to wait for a replacement unit.
Saying that however, we are grateful that you have stuck with us and are pleased to hear that all is well.
My wife left it in her wardrobe and the inside of the wardrobe feels dry whenever she opens the door. It works perfectly well. It needs recharging more frequently when we had a few rainy days. Otherwise, it stays blue for quite a while.

Hi Nicole
The Solenco Rechargeable Mini Dehumidifier is only suitable for small spaces – i.e. anything up to 1M3 in size. Anything bigger than that will be too large a space for it to keep the humidity down.
The Silica Gel beads in the unit will suck up whatever water there is in the air even if it is in a larger space but too large a space won’t allow the space to get dry.
If the space you are drying is larger than 1M3 your choice is to either get more of the Solenco Rechargeable Mini Dehumidifiers or to get a larger dehumidifier.
If you can send us details of what you are trying to dry we can probably recommend something for you.
This is a really super product. It is compact, easy to use, silent and efficient. I use it when I travel and am completely satisfied.

Thanks very much for the comments on the Deluxe and I am sorry that the unit is not meeting your expectations. I would however like to make a few pointers on this unit in response.

I am afraid that there seems to be a misunderstanding of what the purpose of the warm mist function is for in our Deluxe Humidifier. There is a common expectation that the warm mist should increase the temperature of the mist – for example in a similar fashion to a bowl of steaming water would do. While there are some humidifiers that offer that function, most ultrasonic humidifiers, and in particular our Deluxe Humidifier will not.

One of the primary reasons that we don’t offer the increase in temperature is purely from a safety aspect. Steam can burn and (for example) if the humidifier is left unattended in a child’s room there would be every possibility that there could be some injury by the unit being knocked over or the child puts hands and arms into the steam.

So, what is this warm mist function all about?

In an ultrasonic humidifier a membrane vibrates at ultrasonic speed and this causes the water to become vapour in small constant size water droplets. This not only allows the water droplets to be projected into the room but they will float in the air a lot longer than other droplets which might fall to the ground as soon as they leave the humidifier. This is why sometimes you might see wet patches at the base of other humidifiers.

With ultrasonic humidifiers, an additional aid to humidify a space is where the water is pre warmed inside the humidifier (warm mist) to increase the evaporation rate. Nothing more, nothing less. As the evaporation would happen in the unit, the amount of humidity will increase quicker than cold mist, so humidification is faster. Any increase in temperature of the droplets leaving the humidifier will be negligible.

This is the same for all ultrasonic humidifiers in the world.

This unit increases the humidity in the air by pumping water vapour into the room, this will have a slight cooling effect.

With regards to the unit switching off, there is a humidistat inside the unit that measures the amount of humidity in the air. Look on the display, it gives you the temperature of the air as well as a percentage reading, that is the amount of water vapour in the air. You set that percentage using the button with the e and the 3 water droplets. Once the humidistat reads that the humidity reaches the level that you have set it to, it will then switch the humidifier off. So you can play around and see which percentage humidity you would like it at.

When you turn the fan and the air purifying function on, the noise level does increase. We suggest turning this function off at night so that the increased noise level from the fan does not disturb you. You can still use the humidifier without the fan on and this is near silent.

I hope that this makes sense to you – if you have any other questions, please come back to me.
Great product which works wonders in drawing moisture away from firearms while they are stored in the safe.

Comment *The service was excellent-just a few days from placing the order to arriving at my door.
Your mini dehumidifiers are excellent as you can 'recharge' them electrically and they work like a charm for my expensive electronics

After going through a number of moisture absorbing products, my clothes still had that awful musty, damp smell. I was very keen to try the Solenco dehumidifier, but a little sceptical. When the little white box with colour changing beads arrived, well, I admit it, I was doubtful. How wrong I was! Damp, musty smells have gone and freshness reigns again! I am now planning to buy 2 more! Thanks Solenco for allowing me to wear my snoods and scarves with confidence.

I am an electronic engineer living in Kloof in KZN and the spring/summer time it either gets very damp and misty here or hot a humid. I live in a garden cottage and there is always a damp musty smell in the cottage. Wet towels don't dry easily and if it rains continually for days on end and I have to dry my washing inside it makes matters worse. Needless to say after each summer there is a noticeable buildup of mildew on everything - books, insides of cupboards etc.

I've lived in the UK previously for 5 years so when I started doing my research into buying a dehumidifier I understood the context of the many reviews online in connection with the Meaco range. In particular UK houses are build quite differently to South African houses. They are built to keep the warmth in, thus most have very tight sealing doors and windows and there are no external air vents. Also the ceilings are generally lower so the volume of air is less and the ceilings are insulated. So that said a dehumidifier that is designed to cope with a 3 bedroom UK house will not work quite so well in a similarly sized South African house unless all the external doors and windows are kept closed and air vents are sealed up.

I decided to purchase the Meaco 12L Low Energy dehumidifier because it has excellent reviews. I also chose a compressor dehumidifier against a desiccant type because they work better with warmer air and they don't generate as much heat which would be undesirable in a KZN summer!

I received the dehumifier in late October (when the rains had already started) and after putting it to work within a short time I began to feel the air in my cottage was drier. I also have a humidity meter in the cottage so can check the level of humidity.

Initially the dehumidifer battled to get the humidity below 60% - it took around a week for it the really go below 60%. I would assume that this is because all of the fabrics such as curtains, carpets and lounge suite in the cottage had absorbed a lot of moisture and it was going to take a while for the moisture to escape. I also sealed up all the air vents to prevent moist air coming in from outside and defeating the efforts of the dehumidifier.

I've found the dehumidifier to be very effective. The cottage doesn't smell damp anymore and its quite pleasant inside even when its rainy and misty outside. I've effectively created a micro climate inside my cottage that is clean and dry. I'm really surprised how much water the unit takes out of the air and I generally have to empty the container twice a day. My towels dry quickly now and everytime I come to use them they are pleasantly dry (incidentally my girlfriend is complaining her towels are not drying in her house ;-) ). Patches of water in the kitchen sink and bathroom dry up and vanish within hours and if I need to mop the floor that dries up too quite quickly. Hanging up washing inside is not a problem and it generally dries within 24 hours.

I've noticed the humidity readout on the unit doesn't quite agree with my humidity meter. It seems to register a value about 10% more than my meter. For example if the Meaco unit says the humidity is 64% then my meter will most likely be saying 54%. I've taken to setting the Meaco unit to 60%. If I set it any lower the unit just runs continously and never reaches a lower value, but at 60% it keeps the air pleasant and switches off occasionally (my humidity meter says about 50%). The fan makes a bit of a noise (no more than my fridge) but it is not too much of an issue and it doesn't bother me. Its running as I write this.

I'm very pleased with the Meaco unit and feel it was a worthwhile investment. I would certainly recommend the unit, but as mentioned above to get the best benefit from it one should really seal up the house as best as possible to prevent moisture coming in from outside.

Thank you very much for this detailed comment, Damien. This will assist those, who are not familiar with dehumidifiers, in understanding more about these products. We are very grateful for your input.

You are 100% correct in your assumption that when you first start the dehumidifier in the house it will work flat out for two or three days absorbing the moisture not only found in the air but in upholstery carpets clothing curtains and anything else that is organic. Organic substances have a habit of absorbing moisture and this can get difficult to remove. You will sometimes hear us talking about sticky water molecules - well the moisture in carpets etc are often these type of molecules.

Sometimes you will note that laundry being hung outside to dry, dry quicker in windy conditions rather than still conditions - this is because the sticky water molecules are removed with a good burst of wind. I should know! I live in the windy city - PE!!

Which brings me to laundry - we have been told that if you use your dehumidifier to dry your laundry indoors, use a fan to blow the dry air coming our of the dehumidifier at the laundry. The combination of wind and dry air will dry that laundry a whole lot quicker.

I hear what you say about sealing the room or house off to get the maximum benefit from the machine. Sometimes it is impractical to always have your house sealed and besides, a good dose of fresh air can also blow out humidity.

We often suggest to people to seal the house when they go out during the day - say to work - as this will contribute keeping the house dry.

Cooking, washing even breathing all contribute the humidity found in the house. So too opening doors windows etc while you are in the house will attract the humidity found outside the house to the dry spot which is the house.

The beauty of buying a Meaco dehumidifier is the Meaco Smart Technology. This means the dehumidifier is pro-active in its working - unlike other types of dehumidifiers found in the market. Once the Meaco dehumidifier has reached its target it will switch to standby mode. Every half an hour after that the fan starts and runs for five minutes to bring the air into the unit and it is passed over a humidistat which measures the humidity.
If the humidity has gone up then it will continue to dehumidify. If the humidity is below the target it goes back t standby mode.
So basically the Meaco dehumidifier will work when it needs to - you dont have to worry about that!!

....and try using a pipe on the dehumidifier to allow the condensation to be removed down the sink, rather than having to empty the tank all the time. its just one less thing for you to worry about.

Good drying to you!

Phenomenal product. I use to have cloths that smelt musty all the time. After I purchased the cupboard dehumidifier the smells have gone. Thank you Solenco SA!!!

I would like to start with giving you an idea of the scope of my damp problem...
Our flat had the biggest mould problem imaginable, caused by bathrooms with no windows, only a inefficient extractor system that effectively moves moisture from our bathrooms into the main bedroom, coupled with pretty much zero windows (just lovely big sliding doors which you can't leave open when at work). Our landlord isn't interested in solving the underlying issue so we were trapped in a 1 year lease with mould growing on everything. Ceilings, kitchen cupboards, clothes, couches... Even on my jewellery! Bleaching ceilings weekly, hiring a domestic just to keep up with removing the mould as it grew...

Enter my newly purchased 12l dehumidifier... (some sort of dramatic drum roll is appropriate here)
An expensive purchase on my meagre budget but would it work? Could it save my sanity from the sheer horror of mould EVERYWHERE?

I turned my dehumidifier on... Ridiculously easy to use... Hit power symbol, use arrows to dial in desired % humidity and watch in anticipation...
At the time of purchase we had around a 90% humidity level in the flat. Within about 1-2 weeks it was permanently down to 50-60%. It runs essentially continually in our 2 bed, 2 bathroom flat with a big lounge/kitchen but as I have explained above, our damp problem is severe and the moisture source continual. Hums along a little like the sound of a microwave but the noise is quickly tuned out as white noise (also our flat is extremely quiet with the loudest thing previously being the fridge - it is just barely louder than the fridge). It does have an obnoxious beeping noise when the tank is filled (beeps loudly 5 times) so don't keep it in your bedroom or empty the tank in the late evening to stop yourself being awakened by an unexpected alarm... Fills the tank twice a day in our situation but can be used with a pipe for continual drainage. Pop it close to a rack of wet laundry and your clothes should be dried more or less overnight....

The best bit though is that the mould no longer grows. Our flat doesn't smell musty, the air is dry and just noticeably warmer (no damp chill). Even the powder drawer in the washing machine dries out between almost daily laundry loads.

PS - I could probably set a higher desired humidity and it wouldn't run continually and I'd still have no mould but leaving it on lets me dry my laundry indoors without the tumble drier.

Hi Nicola

Thanks very much for the detailed feedback - its really great news for us when we hear stories like this where these units are solving problems. This is what it is all about for us after all!.

We don't normally recommend a compressor dehumidifier for the use in a bedroom, but as you have shown us, it is up to individuals choices. When the dehumidifier has the humidity under control then it wont be working, it will be just on standby mode. The dehumidifier fan starts every half an hour to draw air into the unit to test the humidity. The fan runs for about five minutes. If the humidity has gone up the dehumidifier will resort to dehumidifying, otherwise it will go back to standby mode.

The use of the continuous drain will assist in ensuring that the water is drained away and not filling the tank. There will be then no annoying beeps!!

Fantastic to hear that you are drying your laundry with the dehumidifier. Another customer suggested that a fan is used in conjunction with the dehumidifier - the air blowing the dry air from the dehumidifier into the laundry. She said that her laundry dried even quicker!

Here's hoping you many more days of finding the dehumidifier as useful as others do.
Excellent service. I requested a quote one evening, and received confirmation the same evening, Received the quote the following morning, placed an order that afternoon, and received it the same afternoon. Well done.

This is my second unit. My first one has been installed for more than two years, and still works perfectly fine.

I bought a Dr USB Ionizer Air Purifier from Takealot in October 2015. I must say the first thing I noticed was the excellent build quality, much better than what I expected. I use the air purifier in my office and it just works. It helps be to concentrate better and improves your sense of wellbeing, just plug it in and forget about it. Well worth the money.

I bought a hanger dehumidifier and a mini dehumidifier in August 2015 from Takealot. Good price! great service! AMAZING product!!!! I have just bought another hanger and mini! I am going to keep going until I have a product in each of my cupboards. Goodbye to mould and that mouldy smell in your cupboards. It has been very effective in the cupboards that are sharing the wall with the bathroom. I have tried a few products before. I also love it because it is reusable/rechargeable - yay to the environment!!

I bought one and then my brother bought one as well (after I had such success) and they are AMAZING!

My brother and I live in flats that have really bad circulation and we really struggled with mould. Every morning my bedroom window would be wet from water. It was so wet it caused the wall paint to bubble and peel and mould to grow constantly. Since we’ve kept the dehumidifier on we haven’t had any condensation and no mould has grown. We’ve kept the ioniser on when the unit is on and I can’t believe the difference it’s made to my husband’s allergies. At this time of year he’s sneezing morning and night and his sinuses are impossible. This year he hasn’t sneezed at all and his sinuses are so much better! Nothing has EVER worked for him – medication, cleansing etc. It’s really worked beyond my wildest dreams!

My brother and I’s only regret is that we didn’t buy one when we first moved into our flat. We’ve convinced our parents to plumb dehumidifiers into their new holiday house they’re building in Langebaan and every chance I get I rave about how fantastic it is.

I know I seem like I’m gushing (I don’t normally gush so much), but it’s really delivered over and above what I expected. And it was such a pleasure dealing with your company – prompt e-mail response, quick delivery etc. Thank-you!

It is great to hear that you are seeing some benefit from the dehumidifier that you bought. While the dehumidifier will reduce the humidity and therefore will control mould spores or dust mites, the Ionizer on the Meaco DD8L Dehumidifier will remove dust from the air which your husband has been inhaling. This Meaco DD8L Dehumidifier is great value considering you are getting two machines (dehumidifier and air purifier) for the price of one!!
We've owned a Meaco DD8L for just over month and so far the unit has far exceeded our expectations of its performance. We live in an apartment in Cape Town in the West Coast area, two blocks away from the sea, and had been experiencing constant problems with mould as well as that classic sticky dust that you get at the coast. We brought the DD8L home and switched it on and didn't think much of it, but we quickly began to see results. Within less than three days, our laminate flooring that often felt damp/wet under foot, dried out, and now feels warm and pleasant. Cupboards that had suffered from a musty smell for the entire three years since we'd moved in, cleared up and now smell quite fresh. Our main bedroom windows which were always covered in condensate in the morning now stay dry. Our main bathroom which is poorly designed with completely inadequate ventilation, is now no longer a steamy, humid discomfort to use for hours after use - we simply move the DD8L into the bathroom during shower time and that keeps the air in there fresh and steam-free (hoping it'll keep the ceiling mould away once we re-paint in Summer!). Our flat, in general, which suffered from a horrible noticeable musty smell when arriving home in the evenings, now smells fresh and pleasant.

By far the biggest benefit to our purchase of the DD8L was also the one I didn't expect: Ever since moving into the apartment, I had battled with a hacking cough that mysteriously affected me only in the mornings and evenings, and lasted a few hours each time. I'm not a smoker and am generally healthy, so it was a massive source of frustration for me. My GP had suggested it may be a dust mite allergy but we didn't know for sure and so life continued with this cough. Then, after owning the DD8L for a few weeks, for the first time in three years of living there, I suddenly noticed that my cough had vanished, and, best of all, it has not been back for weeks! I don't know whether it's because of the drier air, or the air ioniser in the DD8L, or the filtration system in the unit, or some/all of the above, but I am incredibly grateful to now be cough free! This health improvement alone has made it worth every cent that we spent on it.

I must also mention that dealing with Solenco was an absolute pleasure and a breath of fresh air (no pun intended!). My experience with Solenco was that the staff are courteous, highly professional and got my order to me in record time. Thank you! I have no problem recommending your services.

I do have some constructive criticism with regards to the design of the DD8L. Mostly relatively minor nitpicks that, if improved, would make an already great product even better:
- The unit leaks some water whenever the catchment tray is removed for emptying. I've found this happens more or less regardless of how long it has been since the unit switched itself off. This resulted in some of my laminate flooring beneath the unit actually bubbling and lifting before I realised what was happening. This was quite a big disappointment, but we've solved it for the time being by placing a small towel underneath the unit to catch those stray drops.

- The power cable exits the unit in a really inconvenient location right below the removable tray. This can make reinserting the tray fairly fiddly because I normally have to get a second hand in there to shove the power cable out of the way in order to make space to get the tray back in. The problem is particularly pronounced when the unit is still very new and the power cable is stuck in an upwardly-bent position, directly in the path of the tray (though the cable has relaxed over time). It would perhaps be preferable to rather have the cable exit the side of the unit.

- A great improvement would be an electronic readout on top of the unit showing the level of the water in the tray (could be a simple row of red LEDs similar to the others already there for the other functions). Currently the only way to check the water level in the tray is to basically get down on one knee to physically look at the clear window. Not awful by any means, but not as convenient as it could be.

- A digital readout giving you the current atmosphering humidity level would be a really nice to have feature.

Readers considering the DD8L should note two things from our experience:
- Some reviews complained about the DD8L being too noisy to leave switched on at night. My fiancee and I have personally had no problem sleeping with it on, but my sister and her husband (who also own a DD8L) found that it was too loud and have opted to switch it off at night.

- Our apartment is around 100sqm with 2 beds and 2 baths, and we've found that the DD8L is more than sufficient for our needs.

- For those living near the sea, a dehumidifier is a must-have if you wish to preserve your fabrics, painted surfaces, and electronics. Our dehumidifier is averaging an extraction rate of 500ml per hour, therefore the 3 Litre tray needs to be emptied every 6 hours! It's shocking just how much water there is in the air at the seaside!

- After over a month of near continuous operation, the unit still operates 100% of the time at the extraction rate described above, but without an atmospheric humidity readout on the unit, it's difficult to know exactly how the unit has affected our flat's humidity overall and where it stands right now versus when/if we can expect the unit to be able to work intermittently, as the material suggests it will eventually do. That said, if this is how it operates forever, I'm also fine with that as the benefits far outweigh the cost/usage of the unit.

Thanks very much Richard for the testimonial - this is exactly what we are after as it tells the story of your experience in buying and using one of our dehumidifiers. So often people, while they may know what is needed to resolve their particular issues, feel not that confident about buying a machine of which most people have not even heard.

There are definite health benefits from using a dehumidifier. Certainly dust mites and mould love high humidity. Dust mites in particular breed like crazy when there is lots of lovely humidity around but hate it when it is dry. So in keeping humidity down, you are preventing the spread of dust mites.

Regarding the water leaks from the tray - may i suggest that you use a pipe for continual drainage. Apart from the fact that this will prevent any leakage from the tank it will give you a break from having to bend down to check on how full the tank is. By the way the unit will switch off when the tank is full, Not ideal, but it is another indication to show when the tank is full.

I will pass on your comment to Meaco about the power cable for their consideration. Thanks very much for pointing this out to us.

Regarding the unit indicating the ambient relative humidity (RH) we are just about to launch the new improved Meaco DD8L (now called the Zambezi) which will do exactly this, among a whole lot of new and improved features.

As to the noise level of the Meaco DD8L - please check on what fan speed you have the unit when it is on. I would guess that you have it on a two fan speed. When going to bed put it on a single fan speed. I am sure that you will be pleasantly surprised as to how quite the machine is. Alternatively there is a timer on the unit that you can set to switch the unit off after a certain time.

Again thanks for all your comments - this is important to know so that we can continually bring more improved products to the market.

It's an awesome product that I expected to cost more. Will in future purchase one for myself

That is great news that the Meaco 10L is serving you well. While it is our entry level unit is is really a great piece of kit and will easily look after the humidity in a small three bedroomed house or flat. Just remember to leave all the internal doors open so that there is a free movement of the air and humidity in the air towards the dehumidifier.
Great service, thank you very much.

Hi Jenny - glad to hear that the Solenco Rechargeable Cupboard dehumidifier is working well for you. That is brilliant. We have quite a range of room/domestic dehumidifiers that can be used to dry not only rooms but houses. To get the best effect in a room, make sure all doors and windows are closed; in a house make sure the unit is situated as centrally as reasonably possible and leave all internal doors open. You can then just switch the unit on and let it do its work - no more worrying. Please contact us on info@solencosa.co.za for more information.
Great service. Within 5 or 5 days I had my machine delivered from P.E. to the west coast where I live close to the sea. Within a couple of days of use the results have been dramatic. Chill out of the air and the rooms do not feel so damp.Thinking of a second machine as the house largish and rambling. I recommend this machine to anyone with a damp problem.

I bought 2 of the mini dehumidifiers as I had some badly water damaged kitchen cupboards. The dehumidifiers worked very well and I was very pleased with the results. I had to recharge quite often which shows how well they absorbed the the damp. The dehumidifiers are now being moved to the linen cupboards.

Good Morning Jessie,

Thank you for your comments.

We have not had the Deluxe Humidifier in stock for a while (the warm mist one) so you would only have been able to order the Standard Model which only offers cool mist.

I just want to try and clear up the understanding of how the warm mist vs cold mist works in ultrasonic humidifiers.

I hope that this makes sense to you – so the only difference here is that the humidification process is slightly faster in the warm mist humidifier.

I bought a 12L low energy Dehumidifier and it works perfectly. Plug and play! We mainly use it in a Hobby room to prevent mould growth and so far we have seen an almost immediate decline in the mouldy smell in the south facing cupboards. I can strongly recommend the advice and quality service that Solenco provide.

The Meaco 10L Dehumidifiers are working exactly as advertised and desired. Perhaps even beyond expectations.

Purchased for two SE facing rooms in two Cape Town properties which get very damp particularly in winter, the dehumidifiers appear to be solving the problem quickly, conveniently and unobtrusively (both aesthetically and sound-wise).
They also use only about 1.5kWh/day to maintain the rooms’ at an appropriate humidity, a concern I had had initially regarding leaving them on 24/7.

Solenco is commended for the ease and convenience of the online booking experience, and the speed with with which the order was processed and delivered.

We are from the UK where we are used insulating and living with old damp houses. Having renovated a house in SA, dam******till an issue and we bought the DD8L. Within the week the air quality improved and condensation on the windows almost cleared. Great unit very quiet and it generates a bit of heat which was welcomed.

Our Meaco 12L Low Energy Dehumidifier is working precisely as expected:
it is keeping a rather damp 2-bed coastal cottage nicely mould-free.
After initially running continuously for several damp winter days, it now uses about 3kWh per day to maintain 60-65% relative humidity.
Electricity consumption is similar to our fridge, but the dehumidifier is much quieter.

Communication from everyone on your side, and speed of delivery, were excellent.

It would have been useful to have had a short (50cm) length of 12.5mm hose with the unit, perhaps as an option, for semi-permanent placement close to a drain. Of course, we found some in a hardware shop for about R20, but it meant a delay in setting up.

Good afternoon Maryanne, the 20L Meaco dehumidifier has been in operation since Friday night and during the weekend we decanted in excess of 24L of condensate from inside our flat. The dampness on the walls, windows and soft furnishings in all the rooms is gone which is of great relief to ourselves. The dehumidifier has exceeded that which we had expected, thank you for speedy service and what we per see as a great product.

We purchased the Meaco 12L Low Energy Dehumidifier. Very happy with the ease of operation and how quiet the unit is. During the winter months we have a problem with humidity in our flat of 88 sq. metres. In winter we get no early morning sun and often get severe condensation on the windows during the night time / early morning. The use of this dehumidifier has greatly improved the situation although we still have an occasional problem, particularly in the bedroom. In hindsight, perhaps we should have purchased a larger unit to cope with our size apartment. but the unit works well we clear about 5 litres of water each day and the general humidity has decreased from around 88% to around 70%. Overall we are definitely happy that we got value for the money spent. Oh yes, also fantastic in helping clothes dry during the rainy days!!

I recently purchased the Meaco 20L Low Energy Dehumidifer through Takealot.com and have been incredibly impressed with its performance.

On running the unit for the first time, the humidity display showed between 75 - 80% and the Dehumidifier was left running 24 hours a day for 7 days at the CO setting. It's winter time so the air inside is colder (around 17 - 20C) and there has been a fair bit of rain outside. Our house is quite large and very poorly insulated. The Dehumidifer was placed in a central room which has 5 rooms branching off it. All windows and doors leading outside were kept closed as often as possible, but we do have dogs who are in and out very frequently.

After 7 days of continuous operation, the humidity display showed a drop to 68 - 72%. After a further 7 days of continuous operation, the humidity display showed a drop to 62 - 68%. The Dehumidifier has now been running for almost a whole month and the humidity display is relatively constant around 60%.

The air is noticeably drier in the house and the temperature, although still 17 - 20C inside is much more comfortable. Before starting to run the Dehumifidier, all the bedroom windows would have extensive condensation every morning. After the first 24 hours of operation, none of the bedroom windows have shown condensation again. After the first 48 hours, none of the other windows in the house have shown signs of condensation either. The carpets feel warmer and drier, the curtains and furniture feel drier, and the family have all commented that it seems dust and mould allergies have been less pronounced.

We have been amazed at the quantity of moisture that the Dehumidfier has pulled out of the air. We initially had to empty the 6L tank twice a day for the first week. Since then, the tank has to be emptied only once a day, but is always full by the end of a day.

The only two downsides of the Dehumifier are the noise and running costs. The noise level is about equivalent to that of a microwave running. Not loud enough to be a nuisance when everybody is awake and easy to hold a conversation over, but loud enough to be noticeable at night. So we do not run the unit close to any of the bedrooms at night. The running costs are probably lower than other conventional Dehumifidiers (I have no first-hand comparison) but seems to use about 10 - 15kWh in a 24 hour period of continuous operation. Given the power shortage situation in South Africa, that is a fairly significant proportion of our household's consumption.

Overall, we are extremely satisfied and would not hesitate to recommend this Dehumidifer to others.

Hi Stewart, thanks very much for the comment and for the full description as to how you found the dehumidifier and the result of its working. It is very difficult to "show" prospective customers that the machine works. The proof of the pudding is in its eating as they say, but I am sure that many will be heartened to hear what you have to say.
There is no doubt in our mind that the Meaco Platinum range offers much more "bang" for your buck....
The outdoor carbon fibre heater purchased, was delivered timeously, was easy to attach to the base and has been working wonderfully, meeting all of our expectations.

Thank you for the great service and product.

The 10l dehumidifier is perfect for our apartment especially for winter when clothes don't dry. We leave it on overnight and in the morning the clothes are clean. Better than a tumble drier! It also does a pretty neat job of sucking moisture out our curtains as well!

Thanks for feedback Irene. A customer recently told us how she used a pedestal fan in conjunction with the dehumidifier to dry her washing faster. She pointed the fan at her clothes which were drying on a clothes horse. The air passed over the dehumidifier which was blowing the dry air straight up, so the effect of this was to have the dry air blown into the clothes. This meant her clothes dried within 45 minutes! Better and cheaper than using a tumble dryer!!
So far seems to be working fine.

Thanks for the good words Bartho - we are happy that you are happy! This sort of thing makes all what we do worth while.

Please remember that these units come with a continuous drainage pipe which prevents you from continually emptying out the tank in the dehumidifier. The water is removed by gravity so make sure that the pipe goes down hill, the end of the pipe must be below the bottom of the unit and try to prevent the pipe from bowing or coiling up. The latter causes negative pressure in the pipe which prevents the water from draining away. The water will then back fill the tank, which. when full, will cause the unit to stop working as we don't want spillage.
I bought the Meaco DD8L for my flat and my parents bought one for their home. Its a great product and both homes are now warmer and dry and we are very happy. Got great service at Solenco from Maryanne and Colette.

Meacomist Deluxe Humidifier - this is a good product with alot of features and most of my expectations of the product were met. My biggest complaint is that this is advertised as a cool or warm mist humidifier but the warm mist function doesn't seem to work at all, no matter what the setting the mist remains cold. My intention was to purchase a dual function humidifier so this is quite disappointing.

Thanks very much for the comments on the Deluxe and I am sorry about the matter of the warm mist not meeting your expectations.

With ultrasonic humidifiers, an additional aid to humidify a space is where the water is pre-warmed inside the humidifier (warm mist) to increase the evaporation rate.

Bought the 10ltr Maeco dehumidifier to deal with damp air in a 2 bedroom flat on a south facing slope within 1km of the sea.
Absolutely brilliant product so far. Removed 2ltrs of water from the atmosphere within the first 12 hours of use.
Air feels nice and dry and cleaner to breathe, wet laundry dries much faster now...
Too noisy to have in the bedroom though,
Really recommend this product for dealing with damp problems....

Hi Chris - super to hear that you are getting value for money out of this unit. The Meaco 10L is a compressor dehumidifier and as such we would never recommend that such a unit be used in the bedroom....unless of course you are looking for some "white" noise to fall asleep to?
By the way my wife thinks that the one thing that I have done well is to get involved in dehumidifiers. Also living by the sea, the dehumidifier is her new best friend when it comes to drying laundry, especially when it is raining!
Service was good. The hanger works but is soon full and must be recharged to often. I think I need a bigger unit aw I am very close to the sea

Hi Gerhard - remember that the cupboard dehumidifiers will only effective in 1M3 space. Calculate the approximate volume of the cupboard to check. If bigger than 1M3 then consider buying another hanger.
Larger dehumidifiers can be used in spaces like walk in cupboards but remember that they will be able to dry bedrooms bathrooms and cupboards especially when the internal doors are left open. This allows air containing humidity to drift towards the dry "bubble" that forms around the dehumidifier as it dries the air.
Excellent product, cut down the mount of 'flying nasty bugs' all feeling so much better. Just getting bucks together to buy more!!!!!

   Hi there,

Although it is working it is not giving me the results I was expecting according to the spec chart. The temperature of the air is hardly increasing and definitely not 8 – 10 degrees and our room is only 3 x 4 m2 so it is not the size of the room and it seems to be extracting about 4 l of water a day and not 8l and I am running it on the ‘wet washing’ cycles too. It is however helping and it is a lot better than before I got it.

Thank you so much

Thanks very much for the feedback and we are sorry to hear that you feel that it is not giving the results that you are expecting. From what you have said here, however, I feel that it is more an understanding of the functions of the dehumidifiers, which I hope to clarify with you here.

Regarding the increase in temperature – please understand that the primary function of the dehumidifier is not to heat and it will not maintain any sort of heat in a space. We mention that there is an increase in temperature of the air coming out of the dehumidifier so that there are no surprises. We don’t want you to walk past the unit and feel that there coming from the machine is warmer than normal think that there is something wrong with the unit.
Once the dehumidifier has reached the target humidity in a space and has it under control, the unit will go to standby mode which means that it will not continue to operate in drying the air – there is no more humidity left for it to remove from the air. In switching off, obviously the warmer air will also not be produced.
So please don’t use it as a heater, it certainly will not function as one.

Secondly, regarding the extraction of water from the air issue. We generally recommend that the ideal target relative humidity (RH) that one should aim for in any living space should be 50%. More that this will cause mould mildew and musty smells. Anything less than that will make the air too dry and one gets dry skin, dry mouths wood starts to crack etc.
The 50% RH target is represented by two tear drops and a thumbs up on the control panel.

When the unit works, it draws air into the unit which is then forced through what looks like a large but narrow toilet roll. The roll has a desiccant chemical called Zeolite which naturally absorbs water. As the wheel turns it goes through a heater (hence the warmer air) which evaporates the water from the Zeolite and this water falls into the tank or goes down the continuous drain pipe of used.

The now dry air is pushed out the unit by the fan and this now forms a dry bubble around the dehumidifier. This dry air bubble then attracts humidity from the other parts of the room and this air is then processed in the same way. The bubble then gets bigger and bigger until it fells the whole room. Moisture from woods, carpets upholstery etc. is then attracted by the dry air and it so removed in the dehumidifying process.

Once the air in the room reaches the (presumed) target of 50%, it will go to standby mode. There is no excess moisture in the room to extract from the air. Every 30 minutes after that the fan will start again and will run for five minutes to draw the air in from the room to pass over the internal humidistat. This reads the level of humidity. If the RH has increased then the unit will go back to dehumidifying otherwise it goes back to standby mode.

You mention that you are using the machine in laundry mode (this brings the humidity down to 40% RH) – this tells me that the unit is doing its job. The fact that it is not producing a lot of water also tells me that for all intents and purposes the RH in the room is under control. Unless there is a specific reason why you need the RH to be so low, I would suggest that you look at the 50% target. If it doesn’t work after a couple of minutes – i.e. it has gone to standby mode – then there is nothing to worry about. This is perfectly normal.

You don’t need to have the unit functioning continuously to control the RH in your room.
Great product and excellent service. I bought a Meaco 10L Small Home Dehumidifier - a boon in a damp basement. I recommend this product for a smaller area, but above all I highly recommendt Solenco whose service was prompt and professional. Hi Hannah

Great to hear that you are getting mileage from the Airvax.

The only way I know in measuring pathogens is by getting the experts as they have special equipment that will do this sort of thing. We have a good customer of ours in Joburg who do this sort of thing. They do travel all over the country. Obviously there is a cost attached to this. If you want to know more please email us on info@solencosa.co.za

Hi using the 10l dehumidifier now fir nearly 2 months. Totally surprised finding the tank full every morning. I have the followibg questions - why is it a 10l but the tank is actually less tgan 10l, I switch it on at night, should it run all day? The area I am using it in us about 50 square metres, is it okay if it is always used in the same area, does it cover the full area? So far I do not notice and mould forming, lets hope the probkem is solved.

Thanks Simon for great service as well as after sales service, rare to find these days! Lookibg forward hearing from you.

Hi Pauline - some great questions and ones that are often asked.

With regards to the tank size, there are various reasons why we don't have a 10L tank for a 10L dehumidifier. The simple reasons are firstly a 10L tank would make the unit quite large and cumbersome to move around. And of course 10L of water is equivalent to 10kg so the full tank will be heavy to remove and empty.

From a technical point of view, once the dehumidifier has the humidity under control then it is unlikely that 10L of humidity will be removed - the dehumidifier will only dehumidify when there is something to dry or remove. So initially you might find the dehumidifiers tank will have to be emptied on a regular basis for the first few days until the target relative humidity (RH) is reached.

We call our dehumidifier a 10L based on certain conditions - for example the 10L humidity will be removed per day where the temperature is 30*C and the RH is 80%. This is done to allow the buyer to compare different dehumidifiers on a "like-by-like" basis. Apples with apples if you like.

In reality conditions in a room or house will change continually, so if either the temperature or RH drops, then less humidity will be removed than the stated 10L per day. For this reason it is unlikely that the tank will fill under lessor conditions.

We are aware that conditions can increase from the 30*C and 80%RH. It also happens that when the unit is used for the first time humidity is the highest and so the unit will work flat out to get the RH under control. We have therefore a continuous drainage facility with this unit (pipe supplied) whereby the condensate is removed by-passing the tank. Please just remember there is no pump in this unit and therefore the condensate is removed by gravity. The pipe must therefore be straight and point downhill - the end of the pipe being lower than the bottom of the dehumidifier.

To answer your question about the amount of time the dehumidifier needs to run - if you want the humidity to get under control, then you must allow the dehumidifier to run continuously. The humidistat in the unit will continually check the RH in the room or house and when it is under control or at your target RH, then the unit will stop dehumidifying.

Only using the unit at certain times of day will just allow the humidity to build up again when it is not being used - kind of defeats the object of having a dehumidifier, don't you think?

The Meaco 10L will be more than suitable for the area that you are talking about. In fact we mention that this unit will dry a small three bedroomed single story house or flat if all internal doors are left open.

It is also great at drying washing when you have one of those rainy days! We find that the dehumidifier will dry a load of washing in about three hours - my wife's new best friend!!

I am sure that you will have many years to come of great use of the Meaco 10L. Please don't hesitate to come back to me if there are any more questions.

I am using my Dehumidifier. But I am one of those that never reads manuals, and could not understand why it stopped working shortly after I got it. Then I discovered that the tray at the bottom fills up with water and it automatically stops, when this is the case. I then took it out to empty it and found a pipe and a plug immersed in the water. (I went out to buy a plug when I got it. Lol!) It fills up very quickly with water, which I guess accounts for the amount of dampness in my place.

It always does pay to read the manuals of these things. Maybe you could use my story for other prospective customers. And I still haven’t read the manual properly. ?

Hi Maureen - firstly well done on choosing a Meaco dehumidifier - I am sure that you will have many years of using it. It is great to hear that the unit is doing its job and it removing the humidity from your house.
You are, of course, 100% correct in saying it is always better to read the manual first. While, these are simple units to use (one doesn't need a pilots licence!!) there are always some basics that should be known to make sure that you get the maximum benefit from it. One invests in these units to prevent damage to the assets you have or to help with some health (allergies) issues. It is therefore essential that you the best service is achieved.
If I may, one other hint that I can give you is to make sure that the pre-filter - found at the back of the unit, where the air comes in - is cleaned on a regular basis. It is just a matter of unclipping it and either vacuuming the filter or wiping in down with a damp cloth. If this is not done there can be a build up of dust, pollen, pet dander etc which can, if not cleaned away, affect the performance of the dehumidifier - to the extent that the unit can break down. This is the largest reason for units to not work, and it is the most simple to do.
I wish you well with the dehumidifier and don't hesitate to contact us if there is anything else we can do for you.
Yes i am more than happy with the Dehumidifier and grateful that you are such a great service provider, most importantly a service provider that i can Trust with excellent time management. Keep up the good work and i will be making more purchases in the future.

Firstly the red light in the star shape on the Meaco 12L Low Energy Dehumidifier is telling you that the unit is defrosting which actually normal.
The coils in the unit will frost or ice up from time to time depending on ambient temperature. Most dehumidifiers will have an auto defrost function to reverse this icing up.

With regards to the vibration that you are experiencing, this would depend on the type of floor that the unit is on. You mention that you have this unit in a cellar - sometimes cellars have more of an uneven level than other floors.
As you may know ?the unit has a compressor and when it comes on there is a certain amount of vibration. If the unit is on an uneven floor this vibration is exaggerated.

Pl?ease come back to me if there are any other concerns

HI Erica, Thanks very much for this feedback. Changing your life - for the better mind you - is what it is all about for us. We are grateful that you have given this opportunity to us.

In the beach house we where building we had 22 suppliers of furnisher, appliances etc. Only 3 of the suppliers did everything on time and correct. You where one of them. It was a pleasure doing business with you. The two Meaco 20L platinum's are working like a bomb. Thanks

Bought the DD8 for the holiday home in Margate. Very effective unit.
The laundry mode does wonders and the whole bathroom becomes a clothes dryer at night.

I purchased two Solenco Outdoor heaters for chilly Jo'burg nights. They work wonders and look really good too. The Solenco team were a pleasure to deal with and my order was dispatched and delivered to us in no time at all. I highly recommend their product and services.

We bought the dehumidifyer about two months ago and have not looked back. Gone is the damp smell we are all so familiar with as a result of the coastal air and gone is the mould build up on the net curtains and crockery. Yes, it was that bad. We had just moved down to the coast in October 2013 and within a few months started noticing damage caused from the damp and humid environment. This little machine is so powerful and effective it not only has cleared the 'air' , so to speak, in our little flatlet downstairs but has actually cleared the entire house of any form of damp. It is also very economical on electricity, which makes it Eskoms best friend too. Nothing like a little bit of clean air to help our government departments. ....... so........ no more showers to get rid of germs ....... just use the DD8L Junior Desiccant Dehumidifier. Thanks MEACO you have changed our lives.

I just purchased a Helio heater , I was not sure if it was powerful enough to heat a very big area , however the performance exceeded my expectations by far, we only need to run it on the low heat to achieve a comfortable temperature in the room , great product , great service thank you !

Your products have been good - although I will need a full Durban summer to test their effectiveness fully . I will indeed buy some more .

What is very impressive , is this contact where you reach out to customers - it sends a very good massage

In general I am satisfied with the Meaco Deluxe Humidifier. My only criticism is that, to distribute the mist throughout the room, one needs to use the built-in fan. This does the job, but it is noisy. One of the criteria in selecting the humidifier is that it is quiet, as we use it in our bedroom. So, if there is any thought to improving the design I would suggest a different design for the built-in fan, one that it is quieter in operation.

I am delighted to hear that you are satisfied with the MeacoMist Deluxe Humidifier and take on board the comment that you have made. All ultrasonic humidifiers suffer with poor distribution of the mist into the room. We studied numerous models and found that they tended to push the air upwards and the mist fell straight back down onto themselves or onto the surface that they were sitting on creating condensation and a puddle. This seemed to be the number one complaint of customers along with hard water issues.

So when the MeacoMist was designed we looked for the optimum angle to ‘launch’ the mist forwards into the room and tried numerous variations, the angle of the outlet is the result of this work. We then added the second fan to push the air even further into the room. This is something unique to ourselves.

The second fan does make a noise but in normal operation it is not intrusive, at night, when a watch ticking can disturb ones sleep, I would agree that it might be annoying in your bedroom. My recommendation would be if this is the case to run the humidifier during the day with the bedroom door closed to get the bedroom to the desired relative humidity so that at night the machine can either be switched off, or if the humidity drops, left to run without the booster fan on.

Hope this approach helps, please do let us know
The order was handled fast and efficiently. My question regarding why the motor did not switch off as I expected was answered quickly and it made sense that it would not turn off when the D8 unit is placed in an open plan 5 bedroom home. It has to work constantly to keep the humidity levels low. It does switch off in a small confined space when the doors are closed.
The unit works very well and we no longer have so much steam building up in bathroom while the bedroom is much less damp, and the purifier freshens the air.
I have recommended to a number of friends since we are very satisfied with a less humid home. I do find the fan a bit disturbing at night so prefer to turn it off.

I am very happy with the 2 MEACO units so far. The humidity in our Archive vault decreased from 72% to 40 % over this period of 2 ½ months since we installed the first unit.
I am also very impressed with your company’s quick, friendly and professional service and especially Mr Brewer – your detailed answers to my questions.
I also got the best price on the MEACO from your company. Thank you very much.

Your service was excellent. I was impressed by the speed with which my questions were answered, the clarity and comprehensiveness of the answers, and the assistance you provided in helping me to come to a decision.

We spend several months each year out of the country. We were only home for a few days after installing the dehumidifier. Friends popping in to check from time say it's working as it should, but I really can't comment further at this stage.

Air purifier works better than expected and the company was efficient at processing my order, keep up the good works and I'll be ordering a new one soon!

Service received was excellent, product is working well. Have recommended mini dehumidifier to friends in Boksburg as well as Port Elizabeth, they should be making contact with you in the near future, as it is a great product to have. Not often that one even gets service over Easter Week-end.

I'm very happy with my dehumidifier.

I no longer get the smell of moisty mustiness when I open my cupboard. It's so easy to recharge and works just as good as the very first time.

I'll definitely buy another if I have the problem elsewhere.

   Hi Simon
Our unit arrived this morning and works perfectly again. I must thank you and Meaco UK for your excellent service. A refreshing and welcome change from what we have come to expect in our country of rapidly falling standards.
A number of our friends have seen and commented on our unit and ask where they can buy one. We had never seen such a thing advertised before seeing it in the UK. Perhaps you could mail a brochure and where there are outlets in our region so we can pass the information to our friends.
Thank you once again

   RE: Airvax Air Purifier

Hi Simon,

Thanks for your mail. They help both of us. They are subtle in that you
don't realize their value. John was using a nebuliser and hasn't needed it
since we installed the Air Purifier. There is far less dust round and the
air feels cooler and cleaner. The one unit is in our second lounge and we
have parrots (family to us) and their down and dust was a problem- it is
noticeably better. I am so pleased we invested in them.

Kind regards

   Dear Simon

In spite of the mishap with the first unit, your follow up was impeccable and makes for a nice change to the usual service standards that seem to be the norm these days.

I completely forgot to let you know that we have bought an air purifier from Lynn Green when we were in SA in March - see email below. They delivered even before we reached Pretoria.

We are so happy with the purifier and our allergies and bronchitis cleared up within less than 2 weeks, and never returned since
